On July 10, 2019 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miroslav Lajčák of Slovakia in Bratislava.

Wang Yi stressed, China upholds the principle that all countries are equal regardless of their size and stays committed to its own peaceful development and win-win cooperation with all countries. China will not follow the old path of hegemony when it grows stronger, but will remain committed to jointly building a community with a shared future for mankind through international cooperation. In the face of the rise of unilateralism, all countries in the world should hold high the banner of multilateralism, jointly safeguard international law and international rules and safeguard the multilateral system with the United Nations (UN) at the core. The Chinese side attaches importance to Slovakia's constructive role in the UN, the European Union (EU) and the cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC), and stands ready to maintain close communication with the Slovak side and be good friends and partners sharing mutual respect and mutual trust in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Miroslav Lajčák said, Slovakia supports China's peaceful development, resolutely pursues the one-China policy, fully respects China's sovereignty and territorial integrity and is willing to ensure the stable and sound development of Slovakia-China relations on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit. The Slovak side is willing to make use of its unique geographical advantage, actively participate in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and adopt a non-discriminatory principle when dealing with Chinese enterprises' participation in the 5G construction. As China-CEEC cooperation and China-EU cooperation can go hand in hand and complement each other, the Slovak side will continue to play an active role in this regard. The Slovak side firmly supports multilateralism and maintains that countries should strengthen dialogue, work together, properly handle differences and meet challenges together. Highly valuing China's important position and role in the international community, the Slovak side stands ready to enhance communication, coordination and cooperation with the Chinese side. Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on international and regional issues of common concern.
