Joint Committee of the JCPOA on the Iranian Nuclear Issue Holds 11th Meeting

On March 16, 2018, the six countries on the Iranian nuclear issue (five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and Germany) and Iran held the 11th Joint Committee meeting of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian Nuclear Issue in Vienna, Austria. Secretary General for the European External Action Service Helga Schmid chaired the meeting. Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi of Iran, Director of Policy Planning at the Department of State Brian Hook of the United States and relevant officials of Russia, the United Kingdom, France and Germany attended the meeting. Director General of the Department of Arms Control of the Foreign Ministry Wang Qun led a delegation to attend the meeting.

Wang Qun welcomed the latest report recently made by Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which affirmed for the tenth consecutive time that Iran has fulfilled its obligations in the field of nuclear. Wang Qun called on various parties to continuously implement the JCPOA and reiterated that China will continue supporting the JCPOA. The meeting reviewed the implementation progress of sanction relieving and nuclear field measures in the JCPOA. All parties agreed to continuously implement sanction relieving measures, including issuing export license of civil aircrafts to Iran, and highly appreciated the important progress in the renovation of the Arak heavy-water reactor under China's promotion, as well as welcomed the Chinese side to hold the JCPOA seminar on civil nuclear cooperation in Beijing on April 11.
