Li Keqiang Hold Talks with Chancellor Sebastian Kurz of Austria

On April 28, 2019, Premier Li Keqiang held talks with Chancellor Sebastian Kurz of Austria at the Great Hall of the People.

Li Keqiang said that Austria is China's important cooperative partner in Europe. Since both sides have all along respected and treated each other equally, bilateral relations have seen sustainable and healthy development. The Chinese side is willing to deepen political mutual trust with the Austrian side, keep high-level contacts, strengthen practical cooperation, and bring bilateral relations to new levels.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Austria have huge cooperation potential in areas such as advanced manufacturing, agriculture and tourism. China, a country with a huge market, will continue to open up, and focus on creating a business environment that is market-oriented, based on rule of law and international. The Chinese side is willing to, together with the Austrian side, give play to respective strengths, tap into potential and push bilateral practical cooperation for new outcomes. We are willing to increase flights between the two countries according to market needs, intensify cooperation in scientific research on giant pandas, and increase exchanges in winter sports. China hopes Austria, as a member of the European Union, will continue to play an active role in the sound and stable development of China-EU relations.

Sebastian Kurz congratulated on the complete success of the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. China is a strategic partner of Austria. The two countries have seen increasing bilateral relations and cooperation and frequent personnel exchanges. The Austrian side admires the tremendous development achievements China has made, and is willing to deepen cooperation with the Chinese side in areas such as economy, trade, agriculture, tourism and Winter Olympics, and achieve new development in bilateral relations.

After the talks, Premier Li Keqiang and Chancellor Sebastian Kurz witnessed the signing of multiple bilateral cooperation documents.

Prior to the talks, Li Keqiang held a welcome ceremony for Sebastian Kurz at the square outside the East Gate of the Great Hall of the People.

State Councilor and Secretary-General of the State Council Xiao Jie, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Director of the National Development and Reform Commission He Lifeng, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee He Wei and others attended relevant activities.
