On August 28, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li held the eighth round of China-Austria political consultation at the vice-foreign ministerial level with Secretary General for Foreign Affairs in the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal in Beijing.

Deng Li said that under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of the two countries, the China-Austria friendly strategic partnership maintains a sound and stable development. The two sides enjoy great potential for practical cooperation in connectivity, economic and trade cooperation, and other fields, and need to focus on the future, respect each other, and treat each other as equals. The two sides should also speed up the resumption of exchanges in various fields and at all levels, deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, facilitate personnel exchanges, and promote the realization of common development.

Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal said that Austria attaches great importance to Austria-China relations and admires China's development achievements. Austria is willing to keep close contact with China, enhance mutual understanding, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and jointly promote prosperity and stability.

The two sides also had an exchange of views on international and regional hotspot issues of mutual interest and concern.
