On July 11, 2019, Premier Li Keqiang sent a message to Kyriakos Mitsotakis, congratulating him on his assumption as Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic.

Li Keqiang noted in the congratulatory message that in recent years, China-Greece relations have maintained the sound momentum of rapid development. High-level exchanges between the two sides have been frequent and political mutual trust has been consolidated. The Piraeus Port is a symbolic achievement of the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. In April, Greece was accepted as a full member of the China and Central and Eastern European Countries cooperation mechanism, which has created a new platform and opened up new space for cooperation between China and Greece. The Chinese government highly values the development of China-Greece relations and is willing to make joint efforts with the new Greek government to further deepen traditional friendship, enhance policy communication, promote the alignment of development strategies, deepen practical cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and push forward the constant and in-depth development of the China-Greece comprehensive strategic partnership so as to better benefit the two countries and peoples.
