On January 14, 2020, Vice Foreign Minister Qin Gang met at request with newly-appointed Greek Ambassador to China Georgios Iliopoulos.

Qin Gang welcomed Georgios Iliopoulos on his assumption of the new post in China, and expressed that the Chinese side is willing to maintain close communication with the Greek side, implement the important outcomes of President Xi Jinping's visit to Greece and promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and cooperation mechanism between China and Central and Eastern European countries. Georgios Iliopoulos said, it is a great honor to serve as Ambassador to China and I am ready to work closely with the Chinese side to make more contributions to the greater development of bilateral relations.

Both sides also exchanged views on other topics of common interest.
