On November 16, 2017, Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao met with outgoing Icelandic Ambassador to China Stefan Skjaldarson.

Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao spoke positively of Stefan Skjaldarson's efforts in pushing the development of bilateral relations during his term of office and encouraged him to continue caring for and supporting China-Iceland friendly cause. Stefan Skjaldarson thanked China for providing support and convenience during his tenure and expressed full confidence in the sustained and in-depth development of Iceland-China relations.
