Vice Foreign Minister Qin Gang Attends the National Day Reception of Switzerland

In the evening of August 1, 2019, Vice Foreign Minister Qin Gang attended the National Day reception held by the Swiss Embassy in China at invitation and he addressed the event.

In his speech, Qin Gang expressed his congratulations on the 728th anniversary of the founding of Switzerland. He said, Switzerland was one of the first among Western countries to recognize and establish diplomatic relationship with the People's Republic of China. Since the establishment of diplomatic relationship, China-Switzerland cooperation has been at the forefront of China-Europe relations in many fields. Recent years have witnessed close high-level exchanges between the two countries, which fully demonstrated the high level of bilateral relations. Next year, the two countries will embrace the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship. Standing at a new historic starting point, the Chinese side is willing to work with the Swiss side to follow the fine tradition of bilateral relations featuring innovation and pioneering spirit, further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, and join hands to safeguard multilateralism and an open world economy, in a bid to inject more positive energy into the development and prosperity of the world.

Qin Gang also exchanged views with Swiss Ambassador to China Bernardino Regazzon on China-Switzerland relations and other topics.
