On September 16, 2020, Vice Foreign Minister Qin Gang attends upon invitation the reception held by the Swiss Embassy in China to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Switzerland.

In his address, Qin Gang congratulated on the 70th anniversary of China-Switzerland diplomatic relations, expressed that the establishment of China-Switzerland diplomatic relations was a strategic decision made by the older generation of leaders of China and Switzerland with great foresight 70 years ago. Over the past 70 years, China-Switzerland relations have made substantial progress. The two countries have become friends with equal treatment and partners for win-win cooperation, and are at the forefront of China-Europe relations in many fields. President Xi Jinping has pointed out many times that the two sides have jointly cultivated the China-Switzerland cooperation spirit of equality, innovation, and win-win results and set an example of equality, mutual respect and win-win cooperation between countries that are different in social systems, development stages and sizes. In the process of jointly fighting against the COVID-19, China and Switzerland support each other and overcome difficulties together, which has deepened and enriched the friendship between China and Switzerland. Swiss Ambassador to China Bernardino Regazzoni said in his address that since the establishment of the diplomatic relations 70 years ago, China-Switzerland relations have become more and more mature. The governments of the two countries, localities and the two peoples have maintained friendly exchanges. The two sides have close cooperation in diverse fields, and achieved fruitful results. Switzerland has witnessed and participated in the rapid development of China's 40-year reform and opening-up. The Swiss side believes that after fighting against the epidemic, bilateral relations will be consolidated and deepened. In the face of today's complex international situation, the Swiss side will continue to uphold a neutral position.
