From June 28 to 30, 2023, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs Wu Hongbo visited the UK, during which he met with UK Prime Minister's Deputy National Security Adviser for International Affairs Sarah MacIntosh and Director General for Indo-Pacific Affairs at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Jenny Bates.

The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the development of China-UK relations, and agreed that the two countries should increase communication and deepen cooperation to promote the sound and stable development of China-UK relations.
