Zheng Zeguang pays a courtesy call on Governor-General Bob Dadae of Papua New Guinea

From July 15 to 18, 2018, Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang paid a working visit to Papua New Guinea. During the visit, Zheng Zeguang respectively met with Governor-General Bob Dadae, Prime Minister Peter O'Neill, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Rimbink Pato and other leaders of Papua New Guinea.

Zheng Zeguang introduced the situation of China's economic and social development as well as China's foreign policy and expressed that the Chinese side is committed to continuously enhancing the unity and cooperation with the vast developing countries, including Papua New Guinea, and is willing to work together with all countries in the world to build a community with a shared future for mankind. The Chinese side firmly opposes unilateralism and protectionism and safeguards free trade and multilateral trade system. Leaders of Papua New Guinea expressed that China has provided historic opportunities for Papua New Guinea to realize its national development. Papua New Guinea firmly adheres to the one-China policy, appreciates the assistance and support that the Chinese side has provided for Papua New Guinea to hold the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders' Meeting this year, and stands ready to further promote the strategic partnership with the Chinese side. The two sides made positive comments on Prime Minister Peter O'Neill's visit to China in June this year and agreed to enhance exchanges at high level and across all levels, deepen political mutual trust, and expand the practical cooperation and people-to-people and cultural exchanges in all areas under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, so as to better benefit the two peoples.

Zheng Zeguang inspected the projects aided and built by the Chinese side, including the Butuka school, the international convention centre and government avenue, and visited the officers on the Chinese naval hospital ship Peace Ark which was visiting Papua New Guinea.
