Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang Meets with Cuban Ambassador to China Carlos Miguel Pereira

On August 11, 2020, Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang met with Cuban Ambassador to China Carlos Miguel Pereira. Both sides exchanged views on China-Cuba cooperation in the fight against the COVID-19 and bilateral relations.

Zheng Zeguang spoke positively of Carlos Miguel Pereira's efforts in promoting China-Cuba relations since he assumed office, and said China-Cuba friendship has been consolidated with the passing of time, and practical cooperation has been constantly deepened. Our two countries have supported each other in the joint fight against the COVID-19, highlighting our true friendship in times of adversity. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Cuban side to implement the important consensuses of the leaders of both countries, and take the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to push China-Cuba friendly cause for greater progress.

Carlos Miguel Pereira thanked the help offered by the Chinese side in areas including anti-epidemic, and said that cooperation in anti-epidemic has further consolidated the traditional friendship between the two peoples. The Cuban side is willing to, together with the Chinese side, continuously deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas, reinforce communication and coordination in international and regional issues, and ensure the success of the commemorative activities for the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, so as to push the friendly relations between Cuba and China to new highs.
