On May 26, 2021, Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng met with Cuban Ambassador to China Carlos Miguel Pereira. Both sides exchanged views on China-Cuba relations.

Xie Feng said that Cuba is the Caribbean Pearl and the lighthouse of the revolution in Latin-America. China and Cuba are good friends, good comrades and good brothers. The special China-Cuba friendship has been tested by the evolution of international relations in the past six decades and become a fine example of solidarity and cooperation between developing countries. General Secretary and President Xi Jinping recently made a phone call to Cuban First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel. The two presidents reached an important consensus on further deepening the relations between the two parties and the two countries, which pointed out the direction of the bilateral relationship. 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China and the 60th anniversary of Comrade Fidel Castro's announcement that Cuban revolution is of socialist nature. In the new situation, we should honestly implement the important consensus reached between the leaders of the two parties and the two countries to increase mutual trust and the honesty-based relations, reinforce the solidarity in pandemic control and the companion in adversity, promote economic cooperation and mutual benefits, and intensify multilateral cooperation and the justice-based friendship, so as to consolidate China-Cuba relations.

Carlos Miguel Pereira extended warm congratulations on the coming 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China and the glorious achievements of Chinese people led by the Party. He said that Cuba has long been committed to the long-term Cuba-China friendship and deepening exchanges and cooperation in all fields. Cuba-China relationship is at its best in history and the two parties and the two countries enjoy high-level mutual trust. Cuba will join hands with China and, towards the direction pointed out by the leaders of the two parties and the two countries, further deepen high-level exchanges, boost communication and cooperation in all fields and bring Cuba-China relation to a new high.
