Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang and Mexican Deputy Foreign Minister Julián Ventura Valero Hold Consultation Between the Two Foreign Ministries

On July 10, 2020, Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang and Mexican Deputy Foreign Minister Julián Ventura Valero held the 17th political consultation between the two foreign ministries via videolink.

Zheng Zeguang expressed, with joint efforts from both sides, China-Mexico relations maintain a good development momentum. Recently, President Xi Jinping and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador have reached important consensus on strengthening cooperation in various areas, including fighting the COVID-19 together, during their talks on the phone. Both sides have maintained intensified communication across all levels and made new progress in cooperation including epidemic prevention and control, economy, trade, and infrastructure construction. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Mexican side to earnestly implement the important consensus between the two heads of state, reinforce exchanges, coordination and cooperation in various areas, and safeguard multilateralism together, in a bid to elevate China-Mexico comprehensive strategic partnership to new highs.

Julián Ventura Valero spoke positively of the bilateral cooperation in anti-epidemic and other fields. He said, the Mexican side attaches importance to developing bilateral relations, and stands ready to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation in a broad range of areas including epidemic containment, trade, investment, culture, education and tourism, in a bid to push bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership for greater development.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
