Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi Attends the Cloud Forum "Two Sessions 2022: Cooperation and Future - the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Mexico Diplomatic Ties"

On March 11, 2022, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs and Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Qiu Xiaoqi attended the cloud forum "Two Sessions 2022: Cooperation and Future - the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Mexico Diplomatic Ties", which was hosted by the Center for the Americas, China International Communications Group, at invitation via video link. Chinese Ambassador to Mexico Zhu Qingqiao, Mexican Ambassador to China Jesus Seade and representatives of political, economic and academic sectors from China and Mexico attended the meeting. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on topics such as China-Mexico relations, experience-sharing on state governance, China-Mexico cooperation in the post-pandemic era, global governance and common development.

Qiu Xiaoqi introduced his participation in and understanding of the fifth session of the 13th National Committee of the CPPCC, pointing out that the successful holding of the Two Sessions has injected certainty and positive energy into the world that has entered a period of turbulence and transformation. Qiu Xiaoqi made remarks centering on promoting experience-sharing on state governance between China and Mexico, saying that both China and Mexico are major developing countries and emerging economies full of vigor and spirits of reform. The two countries are at similar stages of development, and share the same development goals and similar development philosophies. The two sides should take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to step up experience-sharing on state governance, build a pattern of people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and boost the in-depth development of the China-Mexico comprehensive strategic partnership.

Mexican guests attending the forum said, Mexico closely follows China's Two Sessions and believes that the economic growth targets and high-quality development measures put forward by China at this year's Two Sessions have opened up new opportunities for China-Mexico practical cooperation. The two sides should carry forward the successful experience of developing bilateral relations in the past 50 years, jointly meet the challenges of the times, share development opportunities, and contribute to the development of both countries and the common development of the world.
