On February 10, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Mexico Carmen Moreno Toscano held the Political Sub-committee of the China-Mexico Permanent Bi-national Commission meeting and the sixth strategic dialogue via video link. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations, regional situations, international hotspot issues and other topics.

Xie Feng expressed that China-Mexico relations, having withstood various tests over the past 50 plus years, have always maintained vigor and vitality. President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador last year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relationship, opening a new chapter in the history of China-Mexico relations. China-Mexico relations are strategic, comprehensive and mutually beneficial in nature, and these features have become increasingly distinct. China highly appreciates Mexico's efforts to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, and supports Mexico in playing an active role in international affairs.

Going forward, the two sides should uphold the leading role of head-of-state diplomacy, maintain close high-level exchanges, and enhance strategic mutual trust. China is ready to work with Mexico to foster new growth drivers in such fields as economy and trade, finance, industrial chains, people-to-people and cultural affairs, and social development, as well as at sub-national levels. As major developing countries, China and Mexico should join hands to address global challenges, uphold multilateralism to build a human community with a shared future.

Moreno expressed Mexico's warm congratulations once again on the success of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. He said that both Mexico and China are emerging markets with global influence, and this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Mexico and China. Mexico attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and will firmly adhere to the one-China principle and work with China to promote exchanges in various fields and at all levels, deepen practical cooperation, and strengthen multilateral communication and coordination, so as to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to new heights.
