Han Zheng Meets Mexican Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena

On December 6, 2023, Vice President Han Zheng met with Mexican Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena in Beijing.

Han Zheng said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, China-Mexico relations have been running at a high level, becoming increasingly strategic, complementary and mutually beneficial. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-Mexico comprehensive strategic partnership. The two sides should follow through on the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, consolidate political mutual trust, firmly support each other, deepen practical cooperation, and enhance people-to-people understanding. He said, China welcomes Mexico's efforts to align its own development strategy with China's major concepts and initiatives, to take China-Mexico relations to new heights. Han Zheng expressed sympathies over the recent hurricane disaster on Mexico's Pacific coast, saying that China will provide support and assistance for Mexico's post-disaster reconstruction.

Alicia Bárcena thanked the Chinese side for always providing timely assistance to Mexico when it encountered difficulties. The Mexican side highly appreciates the major concepts and initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping, and is willing to earnestly implement the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, deepen bilateral and multilateral coordination and cooperation, and push for continuous development of bilateral relations.
