Heads of State of China and Costa Rica Jointly Meet the Press

On June 3 local time, President Xi Jinping and Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla met the press following their talks in San Jose.

Xi Jinping noted, I held fruitful talks with President Chinchilla, exchanging in-depth views on strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. We reached broad consensus. China and Costa Rica are both developing countries at a similar stage of development and face common tasks for developing economy and improving people's livelihood. The government departments and enterprises of the two countries signed a series of cooperation agreements just now. China is willing to join efforts with Costa Rica to open up a new chapter for friendly relations between the two countries.

Xi Jinping stressed that state-to-state relations thrive when there is friendship between the peoples. Although China and Costa Rica are separated by vast oceans, true friendship can stand the test of geographic distance. At the ceremony today, people of the young generation of Costa Rica witnessed together with us the important moment of cooperation between the two countries. The seeds of friendship between China and Costa Rica sown today among the young generation of the two countries will surely bear abundant fruits in the future.

Chinchilla said that she held effective talks with President Xi Jinping. President Xi Jinping's visit has deepened friendship and cooperation between China and Costa Rica. The Costa Rican side believes that the relations between the two countries will enjoy broader prospects.
