On June 3 local time, President Xi Jinping and Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla met the press following their talks in San Jose.

Xi Jinping noted, I held fruitful talks with President Chinchilla, exchanging in-depth views on strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. We reached broad consensus. China and Costa Rica are both developing countries at a similar stage of development and face common tasks for developing economy and improving people's livelihood. The seeds of friendship between China and Costa Rica sown today among the young generation of the two countries will surely bear abundant fruits in the future.
