Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Enrique Castillo of Costa Rica

On April 4, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the visiting Foreign Minister Enrique Castillo of Costa Rica in Beijing.

Wang Yi said that since the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Costa Rica nearly seven years ago, the bilateral relations have enjoyed a fast and comprehensive development. China appreciates Costa Rica for its firm adherence to the One China policy and is willing to deepen cooperation with Costa Rica in various fields on the basis of mutual trust, mutual benefit and mutual assistance. In particular, China is willing to promote the cooperation projects for positive progress in energy, infrastructure construction, economic zone planning and others, so as to ensure the continuous development of China-Costa Rica relationship along a healthy and steady track.

Castillo said that developing a friendly relationship with China is an unswerving strategic choice of the Costa Rican government. Costa Rica is willing to continue the joint efforts with China, to strengthen communication and coordination and to pursue closer cooperation in various fields, so as to push for the continuous development of the relationship between Costa Rica and China, as well as Latin America and China at large.
