Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping Han Changfu Attends the Power Transfer Ceremony of Costa Rican President

From May 7 to 8 local time, at the invitation of the government of the Republic of Costa Rica, Han Changfu, the special envoy of President Xi Jinping and Minister of Agriculture, attended the power transfer ceremony of Costa Rican President and met with the new President of Costa Rica Ottón Solís.

Han Changfu conveyed warm congratulations and best wishes from President Xi Jinping and forwarded President Xi Jinping's letter to President Ottón Solís. Han Changfu stated that, since the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Costa Rica in 2007, the bilateral relationship has been rapidly developing. China attaches great importance to its relationship with Costa Rica and is willing work together with Costa Rica to push forward the sustainable and steady development of bilateral relations.

President Solís extended his gratitude to President Xi Jinping for his sending of a special envoy to his inauguration ceremony and asked Han Changfu to convey his warm greetings to President Xi Jinping. He expressed that the new government of Costa Rica hopes to continue to deepen the friendly cooperation between the two countries, to raise Costa Rica-China relations to a higher level and to make contributions to the overall cooperation between Latin America and China.

During his stay in Costa Rica, Han Changfu also met respectively with the former President Laura Chinchilla, the newly-appointed Minister of Agriculture and Livestock and other officials of Costa Rica.
