Zhang Dejiang Meets with Venezuelan President and Costa Rican President Respectively

On January 8, 2015, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met respectively with President Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela and President Luis Guillermo Solís of Costa Rica at the Great Hall of the People.

When meeting with Nicolas Maduro, Zhang Dejiang said that China-Venezuela relations have achieved new breadth and depth in recent years. Yesterday, President Xi Jinping and President Nicolas Maduro reached important consensus on deepening China-Venezuela comprehensive strategic partnership and China-Latin America overall cooperation, which will help to promote the in-depth development of China-Venezuela relations and China-Latin America relations. Mr. President used to be the President of Venezuelan National Assembly and made important contribution to exchanges and cooperation between bilateral legislative bodies. The NPC of China attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with the National Assembly of Venezuela, and will start from implementing the important consensus between the two heads of state to intensify experience exchange in governance and administration of state affairs and create a legal and humanistic environment for deepening practical cooperation.

Nicolas Maduro said that Venezuela dedicates to pushing for the further development of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership and Latin America-China overall cooperation, and will constantly strengthen friendly exchanges between bilateral legislative bodies.

When meeting with Luis Guillermo Solís Zhang Dejiang expressed that although China and Costa Rica are far apart geographically, they share much common language and common interests and both take each other as an important cooperative partner. President Xi Jinping and President Luis Guillermo Solís together announced to establish China-Costa Rica strategic partnership featuring equality, mutual trust and win-win cooperation, which conforms to the common aspiration of the two peoples and injects strong impetus into bilateral relations. The NPC of China will further enhance friendly exchanges with the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica to boost understanding and mutual learning, deepen mutual trust, carry out experience exchange in such fields as legal construction and economic development, facilitate information communication in such aspects as legislation and law enforcement and support exchanges and interaction between all social circles of the two countries, thus to provide reliable legal guarantee for cooperation in all fields and consolidate the strong public opinion foundation.

Luis Guillermo Solís expressed that in the new era, bilateral legislative bodies should conduct exchanges and boost practical cooperation as well as friendship between the two peoples.
