On September 17, Yang Jiechi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, met with Gustavo Montalvo, Minister of the Presidency of the Dominican Republic, in Beijing.

Yang Jiechi said that the relations between the two countries have developed rapidly since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Dominican Republic. China positively evaluates the progress made by the Dominican Republic in economic and social development. China is willing to work with the Dominican Republic to conscientiously implement the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and President Danilo Medina, enhance political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation and friendly exchanges, and strengthen communication and coordination on major international and regional issues.

Montalvo warmly congratulated the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and praised China for its remarkable achievements in the past 70 years, especially in the past 40 years of reform and opening up. Montalvo said that the Dominican Republic is committed to developing mutually beneficial cooperation with China in various fields.
