Wang Yi Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni of Italy

On September 2, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni of Italy, who was in China to attend the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Wang Yi welcomed Paolo Gentiloni to attend the commemorations in China and said that this move demonstrates Italy’s far-sight of facing up to history and creating the future, and is believed to further promote the China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership. The Chinese side stands ready to work with the Italian side to constantly deepen practical cooperation between the two countries in economy and trade, tourism, aviation and other fields, and strengthen the coordination and cooperation between the two sides in the reform of the United Nations (UN) and other international affairs, so as to constantly advance China-Italy relations.

Paolo Gentiloni expressed that Italy has also experienced anti-fascist history and fully respects Chinese people’s great contributions to the fight against foreign aggression. The Italian side pays high attention to the development of Italy-China relations and stands ready to effectively implement consensuses reached by leaders of both countries, so as to constantly yield new fruits in Italy-China cooperation in various fields.
