Xi Jinping Meets with President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj of Mongolia

On September 3, 2015, President Xi Jinping met with President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj of Mongolia in the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping thanked Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj for coming China to attend the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and expressed his belief that that is a manifestation of Mongolia’s great attention to Mongolia-China relations. Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Mongolia are friendly neighbors connected by mountains and rivers and China-Mongolia relations are a vital direction in China’s neighborhood diplomacy. Currently, China-Mongolia comprehensive strategic partnership is developing well on the whole. He expressed his hope that both sides will enhance cooperation to accelerate the implementation of consensuses reached by them and promote the bilateral relations to a new and higher level. He said that the two countries should maintain close communication and exchanges at high level and in various fields, and fully understand and take care of each others’ core interests and major concerns. Both sides should step up the strategic docking between the initiative of Silk Road Economic Belt and the initiative of Prairie Road, embark on a group of landmark projects as soon as possible for improving the level of China-Mongolia practical economic and trade cooperation in an all-around way. The Chinese side is willing to maintain close communication with Mongolia and Russia to push forward the construction of China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor, thus promote the development and prosperity of the three countries and the region at large.

Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj expressed that he was glad to attend the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War held that morning. He totally agrees to President Xi Jinping’s elaboration on the development direction of the bilateral relations and hopes that both sides can accelerate the implementation of the consensuses between him and President Xi Jinping on strengthening bilateral practical cooperation and enhance cooperation on major projects so as to push the in-depth development of Mongolia-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
