Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn of Ethiopia

On the morning of September 4, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn of Ethiopia, who was in China to attend the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Li Keqiang said that Ethiopia is China’s good friend and important cooperative partner in Africa. The two peoples conducted valiant struggles against fascist aggression and made historical contribution to the final victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations 45 years ago, the China-Ethiopia relations have always been one of the leading relations of China-Africa friendly cooperation. China firmly supports Ethiopia’s efforts in developing economy and improving people’s livelihood, and is willing to offer help within its ability. When I visited Ethiopia last year, I personally felt the Ethiopian people’s profound friendship to the Chinese people. China is full of confidence in the bright prospect of mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation between the two countries.

Li Keqiang pointed out that Ethiopia is China’s priority partner in carrying out production capacity cooperation with Africa. China is willing to work with Ethiopia to strengthen cooperation in areas such as infrastructure construction, human resource development, construction of industrial parks, integrated development of energy resources from upstream to downstream, investment and financing, boost Ethiopia’s industrialization process and independent sustainable development through production capacity cooperation, and build a model of the all-round upgrading of the friendly, mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation between China and Africa.

Hailemariam Desalegn said that Ethiopia is happy to be China’s priority partner in its production capacity cooperation with Africa, and will actively conduct production capacity cooperation with China. Ethiopia is willing to learn from China’s development experience and improve its investment environment, and welcomes Chinese enterprises to expand investment in Ethiopia and participate in the construction of projects in infrastructure, energy, agriculture and industrial parks.

After the talks, both prime ministers witnessed the signing of the bilateral cooperative agreements in areas such as economy, technology, electricity, finance, energy and aviation.
