Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane of South Africa

On September 4, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Foreign Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane of South Africa, who was accompanying President Jacob Zuma of South Africa to attend the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in China.

Wang Yi welcomed President Jacob Zuma and Foreign Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane to attend the commemorations in China, and said this reflects South Africa’s firm support for the cause of world peace and justice. Currently, the China-South Africa relations are showing vigorous development momentum. China is willing to work with South Africa to actively implement the 5-10 Year Cooperation Strategic Plan and advance cooperation in key areas such as production capacity and marine economy to promote the in-depth development of the China-South Africa relations.

Maite Nkoana-Mashabane thanked China for inviting President Jacob Zuma to attend the commemorations in China. He said that South Africa regards China as one of the most important strategic partners, and hopes to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with China in various fields to assist South Africa to develop faster in economy and society. South Africa is willing to join hands with China to promote South Africa-China and Africa-China relations to a new level, and to make new contributions to the unity and cooperation among the developing countries.
