Xi Jinping Meets With President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan

On September 2, 2015, President Xi Jinping met with President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Xi Jinping welcomed Emomali Rahmon to attend the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in China. He said that in those years, people of Tajikistan once provided important support for the Chinese people’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Tajikistan are good neighbors, friends, and partners with sincerity and mutual trust, and the two sides have established high-level mutual political trust and strategic cooperation. China stands ready to work with Tajikistan to promote cooperation on co-construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt in the principle of mutual consultation, co-construction and sharing, and align effectively the Silk Road Economic Belt with the three major development strategies of energy, transportation and food concerned by Tajikistan. China will work together with Tajikistan to tap the cooperation potential in economy and trade, encourage Chinese enterprises to take an active part in Tajikistan’s domestic construction, and support the two sides to enhance financial cooperation. China and Tajikistan have always supported each other on issues concerning respective major and core interests. China is willing to continuously boost communication and coordination with Tajikistan.

Emomali Rahmon expressed that the Chinese people made huge contributions to the World Anti-Fascist War, which the Tajik people sincerely admire. The bilateral relations between China and Tajikistan develop rapidly. The two sides have established high-level mutual trust, and maintained close coordination in international and regional affairs. The bilateral cooperation in fields such as economy and trade, security, local affairs, and infrastructure goes deeper and deeper, and cooperation in the framework of the “Belt and Road” has harvested in the early stage. Tajikistan is grateful for the assistance provided by China, and will continuously strengthen practical cooperation with China in various fields.

After the meeting, the two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of bilateral cooperation documents on economy, technology, cultural communication and other areas.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others attended the meeting.
