Xi Jinping Meets with President Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan

On September 2, 2015, President Xi Jinping met with President Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Xi Jinping welcomed Islam Karimov to attend the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in China and thanked the people of Uzbekistan for their precious support for Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. Xi Jinping pointed out that at present the China-Uzbekistan relations enjoy a sound development momentum, and bilateral cooperation in various fields is comprehensively advancing, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples and contributing positively to the regional development and stability. China steadfastly promotes the bilateral strategic partnership and appreciates the active support of Uzbekistan for the construction of Silk Road Economic Belt. China is willing to actively strengthen bilateral cooperation in transportation infrastructure construction and expand bilateral trade and investment. The two sides should also deepen security cooperation. China and Uzbekistan have always maintained high-level strategic coordination in the framework of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and China is willing to fully support and cooperate with Uzbekistan to do well in various SCO tasks as its presidency.

Islam Karimov expressed that the Chinese people won its national liberation through bloody fights in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and also made great contributions to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. On the occasion of attending the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, he would like to express esteem to the great Chinese people. The Uzbekistan-China relations are developing rapidly, and both sides have established high-level mutual trust with deepened cooperation in various fields. Uzbekistan is willing to maintain close coordination and cooperation with China to achieve common development and strive to safeguard international and regional peace.
