Li Keqiang Meets with President Tomislav Nikolic of Serbia

On the afternoon of September 2, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at Fanghua Garden of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse with President Tomislav Nikolic of Serbia, who was in China to attend the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Li Keqiang said that both China and Serbia were battlefields in the World Anti-Fascist War, and the two peoples fought bravely for national independence and freedom. The Chinese side is willing to consolidate the sound political mutual trust and deepen practical cooperation in economy, trade and production capacity with the Serbian side, thus push the China-Serbia strategic partnership for smooth development.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China-CEEC(16+1) cooperation mechanism has become an important platform for China and relevant countries to enhance friendship and promote cooperation. As a symbolic project, the Hungary-Serbia railway will benefit the connectivity as well as economic and social development of the area along the line. The Chinese side will continue to closely cooperate with Serbia and Hungary to promote substantial progress in the project as soon as possible. China will for the first time host the China-CEEC leaders meeting this year, and would like to work with all parties including the Serbian side to ensure new results from the meeting.

Tomislav Nikolic said that the friendly relationship between Serbia and China have been enhanced steadily. The Serbian side will learn from China’s development experience and welcomes Chinese enterprises to engage in construction of infrastructure and other projects in Serbia so as to jointly push bilateral practical cooperation to a new stage. The Serbian side gives full support to the China-CEEC leaders meeting to be held in China this year, and wishes it a complete success.
