On September 2, 2015, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met respectively with President Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela and President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan in the Great Hall of the People, who were in China to attend the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Zhang Dejiang first welcomed Nicolas Maduro’s attendance at the commemorations and expressed that the Chinese people will work together with people in other parts of the world to safeguard the victorious fruits of the World War II and international fairness and justice. He said that the new important consensus on the development of China-Venezuela relations in the next stage reached by President Xi Jinping and His Excellence President yesterday has strongly enhanced the overall guidance and promotion of all-round cooperation between the two countries. The NPC of China stands ready to strengthen friendly exchanges between bilateral legislative bodies at all levels and jointly promote the implementation of consensus reached by the two heads of state, so as to deepen traditional friendship, promote mutually beneficial cooperation, make progress together and ensure that the China-Venezuela comprehensive strategic partnership always keeps a high-level and rapid development.

Nicolas Maduro said that recalling the history is of vital importance to promoting world peace and justice. Venezuela is willing to deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields.

When meeting with Nursultan Nazarbayev, Zhang Dejiang welcomed him to attend the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in China and expressed that the Chinese side is willing to work with people around the world including Kazakhstan to make positive contributions to the cause of peace and progress of all mankind. Zhang Dejiang said that President Xi Jinping and Mr. President had fruitful talks and thus reached multiple important consensuses, bringing strong impetus to the elevation of bilateral cooperation. The NPC of China is ready to strengthen exchanges of experience on governance and administration of state affairs and legislation with the Parliament of Kazakhstan so as to provide law guarantee for bilateral exchanges and cooperation in such aspects as economy, trade, and people-to-people and cultural engagement and constantly advance the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed that the Chinese people made great contribution to the victory of the World War II. Kazakhstan hopes that both sides make continuous and in-depth progress in cooperation covering politics, economy and trade, security, parliamentary affairs and other fields.
