Xi Jinping Meets with President Trương Tấn Sang of Viet Nam

On September 3, 2015, President Xi Jinping met with President Trương Tấn Sang of Viet Nam at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping expressed heartfelt thanks to Trương Tấn Sang for attending the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in China, and emphasized that this reflects the strong support of the Party and government of Viet Nam for the events held by China. Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Viet Nam are both socialist countries under the leadership of the communist party, and to strengthen strategic communication and promote exchanges and coordination is necessary for the two countries to realize their respective development goals. China supports Viet Nam’s adherence to the socialist path. With the joint efforts of the two sides, relations between the two parties and countries have been developing steadily, and the two sides have reached important consensus on strengthening the connection of development strategies of the “Belt and Road” and “Two Corridors and One Circle” and production capacity cooperation, injecting new and strong momentum into deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries. The China-Viet Nam relations face new development opportunities. Both sides should not only consolidate traditional China-Viet Nam friendship, but also expand China-Viet Nam strategic cooperation. We should continue to maintain high-level exchanges, promote the connection of the development strategies of the two countries, expand cooperation within the framework of the “Belt and Road” and “Two Corridors and One Circle”, boost people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and consolidate the public opinion basis of the bilateral relations. We agree to properly deal with the divergences through bilateral dialogues and make efforts to promote cooperation and expand common interests in the meantime.

Trương Tấn Sang said that he is happy to attend the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War this morning. Currently, relations between the two parties and countries enjoy a sound development, and both sides shoulder the responsibility of inheriting and carrying forward the good-neighborly and friendly relations forged by leaders of older generations. Viet Nam is willing to, together with China, increase political mutual trust ,enhance personnel exchanges, properly deal with the divergences and expand equal and mutually beneficial cooperation.
