On September 4, 2015, President Xi Jinping met with President Joseph Kabila of the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping highly appreciated Joseph Kabila’s attendance at the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in China, and stressed that it demonstrates the friendly affection of the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo to the Chinese people and shows the world the firm will of the country to safeguard peace. Xi Jinping stated that China has always viewed and developed the bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective. China is willing to join hands with the country to comprehensively deepen mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation and develop a strategic partnership of win-win cooperation. Both countries should promote high-level exchanges, enhance strategic mutual trust and closely coordinate on major international and regional issues, thus uphold the interests of developing countries together. The two countries should also carry out practical cooperation in a creative manner, enhance cooperation in infrastructure construction and production capacity as well as strengthen cooperation in agriculture and forestry development. China encourages and supports exchanges between governments, youth, media and colleges and universities of the two countries so as to further bilateral people-to-people and cultural cooperation. China is willing to boost cooperation with the country in peace and security to improve its independent peacekeeping capability.

Joseph Kabila stated that he was glad to attend the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in China. China’s invitation for the delegation of the Democratic Republic of Congo embodies China’s trust in and encouragement for the country. Bilateral friendship boasts a time-honored history and the Democratic Republic of Congo appreciates China’s long-term great help and support. The Democratic Republic of Congo insists on consolidating and developing the strategic partnership with China and will promote bilateral cooperation in various sectors including economy and diplomacy.
