Xi Jinping Meets with President Miloš Zeman of the Czech Republic

On September 4, 2015, President Xi Jinping met with President Miloš Zeman of the Czech Republic at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping pointed out that President Miloš Zeman’s attendance at the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in China is a reflection of the respect for historical facts. As the main battlefield in the East during the World Anti-Fascist War, China made a significant contribution to its victory. In the European battlefield, there emerged many well-known anti-fascist heroes among the unyielding Czech people. The aim of our commemorations is to bear history in mind, honor all those who gave their lives, cherish peace and open up a new future.

Xi Jinping stressed that nowadays China-Czech relations have maintained a good momentum of rapid development. The two sides should continue to build a strong political basis for bilateral relations, and increase high-level exchanges and dialogues at all levels. Both sides should also consolidate the economic foundation for bilateral cooperation and enhance strategic synergy by cooperating in such fields as manufacturing, nuclear power, infrastructure construction, finance, telecommunications and high technology. Meanwhile, people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries need to be better vitalized thus enrich the humanistic connotation of bilateral relations.

Miloš Zeman said that he was pleased to attend the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in China. The Czech Republic attaches importance to its relations with China, and is ready to make constant progress in the exchanges and cooperation with China in areas such as finance, aviation, investment, scientific research, education and sports. The Czech Republic will be also actively engaged in the cooperation within the “Belt and Road” framework.
