Xi Jinping Meets with President Jacob Zuma of South Africa

On September 4, 2015, President Xi Jinping met with President Jacob Zuma of South Africa at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping pointed out that President Jacob Zuma's special visit to China to attend the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War reflects the devotion of the South African government and you to international peace and justice and the attention paid by the government and you to China-South Africa relations. From this year on, the China-South Africa relations are facing important development opportunities. The 5-10 Year Cooperation Strategic Plan Between China and South Africa is being comprehensively implemented, and the exchange activities of the Year of China in South Africa in 2015 have enhanced the mutual understanding and friendship between both peoples. China is willing to make every effort to promote the friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Both sides need to strengthen coordination thus speed up the implementation of the contents of the cooperation strategic plan between China and South Africa, and turn the consensus reached by the two heads of state into cooperation results beneficial to people of both countries at an early date.

Xi Jinping stressed that China is willing to continuously strengthen coordination and cooperation with South Africa in multilateral fields and thus safeguard the common interests of the developing countries. China will work with the African countries for the success of the summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation to be held in South Africa.

Jacob Zuma said that it is a great honor to attend the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in China. China suffered great losses in the World Anti-Fascist War and made great contributions to its victory. China's commemorations fully demonstrate China's resolution of safeguarding world peace and stability. South Africa attaches importance to the friendly relations with China, and will strive for early harvests of the cooperation strategic plan between South Africa and China. South Africa is willing to work with China to ensure a complete success of the summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation soon to be held in South Africa.
