2015-06-29 16:50

At noon of June 29 local time, Premier Li Keqiang held talks with Prime Minister Charles Michel of Belgium in Brussels and then jointly met the press.

Li Keqiang expressed that Prime Minister Charles Michel and I exchanged in-depth views on a wide range of topics such as international politics, diplomacy, cooperation in trade, economy and investment as well as China-Belgium and China-EU relations. The China-Belgium cooperation has yielded fruitful results. Both sides are expected to take the opportunity of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations next year to enhance traditional friendship and promote bilateral relations and cooperation to a new level.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Belgium agreed to jointly develop the third-party market. Currently a number of developing countries are still in their infancy of industrialization with demands for relevant equipments and production lines while China has entered the middle stage of industrialization with fairly cost-effective excess production capacity. Belgium and other developed countries have been on the post-industrial stage, boasting advanced technology and high-end equipments. The three sides to join hands for cooperation not only meets the demands for infrastructure construction of the developing countries and helps China improve and upgrade its equipments, but also conduces to export expansion of developed countries and contributes to the recovery of world economy.

Charles Michel expressed that Premier Li Keqiang and he have reached broad consensus on further deepening bilateral relations, enhancing exchanges of trade, economy and investment and intensifying cooperation on climate change and other global issues. The Belgium-China cooperation enjoys a strong complementarity and tremendous potential, so it can powerfully promote economic growth and employment in both countries. Belgium stands ready to become an important gateway for Chinese enterprises to invest in Europe and to work with China to vigorously advance the trilateral cooperation between Belgium, China and Africa and between Europe, China and Africa by making use of their respective advantages, so as to realize mutual benefit and multi-win results.
