2015-07-01 16:12

On the morning of June 30 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met with President of the Senate Gerard Larcher of France at the Luxembourg Palace in Paris.

Li Keqiang expressed that the China-France relations have always been at the forefront of China’s relations with major Western countries and the two peoples enjoy profound friendship. Both sides should be bold in blazing new trails and adept in making innovations, so as to continuously push forward China-France relations from a new historical starting point. I expect to score new breakthroughs together with the French side during this visit in fields like deepening cooperation and jointly developing the third-party market.

Li Keqiang pointed out that high-level legislature exchanges and local cooperation are important parts of the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership. The National People's Congress of China has established regular exchange mechanism with the Senate of France. The Chinese side stands ready to strengthen exchanges, promote understanding and expand cooperation with the French side. It is hoped that the Senate of France will support the trilateral cooperation between China and France and the third country and others.

Gerard Larcher expressed that France and China together celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations last year. The Senate of France, with extensive representation, is willing to inherit the pioneering spirit of former President Charles de Gaulle in promoting the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations to proactively support the trilateral cooperation between China and France and the third country and constantly promote political, economic as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
