Li Keqiang Meets with UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova

On the evening of June 30 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met in the hotel where he stayed with Irina Bokova, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Li Keqiang appreciated UNESCO's efforts in promoting the diversity of world civilizations, pushing forward the cause of education and international cultural exchanges in developing countries, protecting the cultural heritage of humanity and other areas. He expressed that the Chinese side is willing to enhance cooperation with UNESCO in education, culture and other fields, so as to promote mutual respect and equal treatment among different civilizations and cultures and realize solidarity and harmonious development through inclusiveness and mutual learning.

Irina Bokova expressed that since its establishment 70 years ago, UNESCO has exerted unremitting efforts in safeguarding world peace and human dignity. UNESCO attaches importance to relations with China and is willing to deepen cooperation with China to serve as a bridge in promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges and mutual learning among different countries.
