Li Keqiang Arrives in Kuala Lumpur to Attend Series of Leaders' Meetings on East Asia Cooperation and Pay an Official Visit to Malaysia

On the evening of November 20 local time, Premier Li Keqiang arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang by special plane at the invitation of Prime Minister Najib Razak of Malaysia, the rotating chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN). He will attend the 18th ASEAN-China (10+1) Summit, the 18th ASEAN-China, Japan and ROK (10+3) Summit and the 10th East Asia Summit (EAS), and pay an official visit to Malaysia. Premier Li Keqiang's wife Mme. Cheng Hong arrived by the same plane.

Minister of Transport Dato' Sri Liow Tiong Lai and other senior government officials of Malaysia greeted them at the airport. Guards of honor lining up on both sides of the red carpet saluted Premier Li Keqiang and his wife with eyes. H.E. Huang Huikang, Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, and H.E. Xu Bu, Chinese Ambassador to the ASEAN, also welcomed them at the airport.

Li Keqiang expressed that China and the ASEAN share common destiny, common interests, and emotional bonds. The ASEAN will officially become a community, which is of milestone significance for regional integration. He looks forward to, together with leaders from other participating countries, discuss on development plans, build cooperation consensus and maintain the sound momentum of regional peace, stability, development and prosperity so as to create a stable growth pole of the global economy.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Malaysia enjoy good-neighborly and long-term friendship and it was his first official visit to Malaysia since he took office as the Chinese Premier. He looks forward to exchanging in-depth views with Malaysian leaders on comprehensively deepening comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Malaysia, so as to upgrade bilateral mutually-beneficial and practical cooperation to a new height, better benefit the two peoples and promote new progress in regional cooperation.

During the visit, Li Keqiang will hold talks with Prime Minister Najib Razak and jointly witness the signing of relevant bilateral cooperative documents and meet the press. He will also attend the China-Malaysia High Level Economic Forum and deliver a speech. In addition, he will have extensive contacts with people from all circles in Malaysia and visit Malacca at invitation.
