Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister John Key of New Zealand

On the evening of November 21 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met at the hotel where he stayed in Kuala Lumpur with Prime Minister John Key of New Zealand.

Li Keqiang expressed that China and New Zealand are good friends and good partners. Both sides have been continuously enhancing political mutual trust and gradually expanding practical cooperation, which fully demonstrates the positive effect of China-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA). China is willing to strengthen dialogue, communication and cooperation with New Zealand to inject new impetus into bilateral relations.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and New Zealand enjoy economic complementary advantages and huge cooperation potential. It is hoped that both sides can make good use of relevant cooperation mechanisms and platforms, strengthen policy dialogues and coordination, and discuss on advancing the negotiation on FTA upgrade. The Chinese side encourages Chinese enterprises to participate in New Zealand's infrastructure construction, such as transportation and post-disaster rebuilding projects, and hopes New Zealand to provide related access convenience. China is willing to, together with New Zealand, enhance people-to-people and military dialogues and exchanges and law enforcement cooperation, strengthen communication and coordination in global and regional multilateral mechanisms, and actively expand new areas of cooperation so as to bring benefits to both peoples.

John Key noted that the New Zealand-China relations enjoy smooth development with trade and investment cooperation continuously expanding. New Zealand stands ready to, together with China, actively push forward the negotiation on bilateral FTA upgrade, elevate bilateral trade, expand cooperation in areas including education, tourism and aviation, and boost communication and coordination on tackling climate change and other major international issues.
