Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev of Russia Jointly Meet the Press Zhang Gaoli Attends the Event

On the afternoon of December 17, 2015, after co-chairing the 20th Regular Meeting between Chinese Premier and Russian Prime Minister, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev of Russia jointly met the press at the Great Hall of the People.

Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli was present.

Li Keqiang introduced the outcomes of the regular meeting, emphasizing that both sides reviewed the progress of China-Russia relations and examined the situation facing bilateral future cooperation. He expressed that due to the current weak global economic recovery, the China-Russia bilateral trade volume denominated by USD witnessed a decline this year, but their trade scale is increasing, and bilateral cooperation in energy, equipment manufacturing, high-technology, E-commerce and other areas shows an upward trend with new highlights and growth points emerging in bilateral trade.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Russia are facing the crucial task of economic restructuring, and bilateral cooperation in economy and trade as well as other areas enjoys great potential. To enhance cooperation between both countries is not only conducive to bringing more benefits to both peoples, but also helpful to stimulating the confidence of emerging economies and developing countries in coping with the current complicated world economy. It is also beneficial to accelerating the recovery of world economy and promoting regional and world peace, stability and prosperity.

Dmitry Medvedev noted that the meeting yielded positive results, demonstrating the high level of Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination and showcasing the great potential in bilateral cooperation. The Russian side is willing to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to explore converging points, growth points and breakthrough points in cooperation so as to promote the in-depth development of bilateral practical cooperation. He also welcomed Premier Li Keqiang to visit Russia and attend the 21st Regular Meeting between Russian Prime Minister and Chinese Premier in the country next year.

Vice Premiers Liu Yangdong and Wang Yang, as well as First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin of Russia attended the event.
