Li Keqiang Meets with President of the Senate Renan Calheiros of Brazil

On the afternoon of May 19 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met at the National Congress in Brasilia with President of the Senate Renan Calheiros of Brazil.

Upon arrival, Li Keqiang was warmly welcomed by Presidents of Brazilian Senate and Chamber of Deputies at the entrance.

Li Keqiang expressed that China and Brazil enjoy political mutual trust and constantly advanced practical cooperation in all fields, and bilateral relations boast extensive and solid public support and social foundations. His visit to Brazil is to further cement bilateral traditional friendship, make new progress for bilateral cooperation and ensure a better and more smooth development of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

Li Keqiang pointed out that the in-depth development of bilateral relations and cooperation needs support from bilateral legislative bodies. It is hoped that congresses of the two countries and their friendship groups could enhance exchanges, communication and mutual understanding, thus providing necessary legal guarantee for the smooth development of bilateral cooperation.

Renan Calheiros said that Brazil-China relations are at an important development stage. The two countries should deepen exchanges and cooperation, boost mutual investment and push bilateral relations for constant development. Both Brazilian Senate and Chamber of Deputies attach high importance to relations with China, and their groups for Brazil-China friendship are always active. Brazilian Senate will further strengthen exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

Following the meeting, Li Keqiang went to the Conference Hall of the Senate in the company of Senate President Renan Calheiros, and had friend communication with the senators present.
