Li Keqiang Visits Chinese Equipment Manufacturing Industry Exposition in Brazil, Stressing to Promote China-Brazil Cooperation in Production Capacity and Equipment Manufacturing for Common Development, Mutual Benefit and Win-win Result

On the morning of May 20 local time, Premier Li Keqiang visited the Chinese Equipment Manufacturing Industry Exposition in Rio De Janeiro.

Rio De Janeiro embraced a sunny day, with the sea sparkling in the sunlight and the newly-decorated Rio de Janeiro port being permeated with Chinese characteristics. In the outdoor exhibition area, the heavy machineries such as cranes and excavating machines made in China held their arms. In the exhibition hall, China-made high-speed railway, nuclear power generation and carrier rocket models as well as new energy vehicles stood one by one.

At around 10:00 am, Li Keqiang arrived at the opening ceremony site of the Chinese Equipment Manufacturing Industry Exposition. Brazilian Minister of External Relations, Minister of Mines and Energy, Minister of Communications as well as Governor of Rio de Janeiro State greeted him at the entrance and accompanied him throughout the visit. Li Keqiang said in his speech that he has reached important consensus with Brazilian leaders on carrying out cooperation in production capacity during his visit in Brazil. China is willing to cooperate with the Brazilian side in locomotive manufacturing, ship building, auto making, steel, construction materials and other sectors. China will not only export quality and environment-friendly equipment to Brazil, but also open production lines and spare parts maintenance facilities, train local personnel and create jobs in Brazil. China is ready to import high-quality agricultural produces and competitive equipment products from Brazil. China-Brazil cooperation in production capacity and equipment manufacturing will link Brazil's economic development and demand for industrial investment with China's production capacity and competitiveness in equipment manufacturing, which will surely be conducive to mutual benefit, win-win results and common development between both countries.

Minister of External Relations Mauro Vieira and Governor of Rio de Janeiro State Luiz Fernando Pezao of Brazil noted that Brazil-China comprehensive strategic partnership has provided great potential for bilateral economic cooperation. China-made subway trains and ferries, which enjoy high cost-performance and strong competitiveness, are welcomed by the Brazilian people. The Brazilian side is willing to, together with China, carry out cooperation in equipment manufacturing and production capacity and expand bilateral trade of high-quality products. Brazil welcomes and supports Chinese enterprises participating in local infrastructure projects including subway, railway, broadband infrastructure and water facilities. It is believed that Premier Li Keqiang's visit will pave a better prospect for development of bilateral relations and deepening of bilateral practical cooperation.

Witnessed by over 200 honored guests present, Li Keqiang, together with Brazilian Minister of External Relations and Governor of Rio de Janeiro, cut the ribbon for the exposition.

Li Keqiang later went to the exhibition hall, introducing China-made products to the Brazilian Ministers and Governor who accompanied him during the visit. He also warmly interacted with representatives of the participating enterprises and encouraged them to contribute more to China-Brazil cooperation in production capacity and equipment manufacturing.

The exposition, which was hosted by National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and organized by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), constituted of 10 sectors covering railway and track transportation, electricity, telecommunication equipment and information technology, petroleum and petrochemistry, engineering machinery, aerospace, automobile, and financial support. A total of 30 participating enterprises represented the top-level of equipment manufacturing in China. The exposition will be open to Brazilian people.
