On the morning of May 20 local time, Premier Li Keqiang visited and experienced the China-made subway train in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

It was a sunny morning in Rio de Janeiro, a metropolis with a population of 6.5 million, for which subway transportation has become increasingly important.

Governor Luiz Fernando Pezao of Rio de Janeiro State greeted Li Keqiang at the entrance to the subway company and accompanied him through the whole tour.

The subway company of Rio de Janeiro has introduced a large number of China-made locomotives. Li Keqiang attentively listened to the introduction, stopped to watch the display boards on the way and held interactive communication on the technical details with the directors of Chinese and Brazilian enterprises. Upon learning that the new generation of locomotives designed and manufactured by Chinese enterprises for the Rio de Janeiro subway not only features good appearance, smoothness, steadiness and comfort in running as well as high energy efficiency and environmental-friendliness, but also is equipped with air conditioning set with large refrigerant unit specific for the local climatic conditions and that China-made trains, light rails and other equipments will be widely used in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games next year, Li Keqiang expressed that this is a test for China's equipment manufacturing. Chinese enterprises should guarantee both quality and quantity in completing bilateral cooperative projects, ensure timely delivery and operation of trains, continuously develop and produce vehicle equipment meeting the needs of the Brazilian market, work to be the pioneer of China-Brazil production capacity cooperation and drive more China-made equipment to go global so as to make China's equipment manufacturing a shining golden business card that will never fade in the fierce international competition.

Subsequently, Li Keqiang boarded the subway train and experienced the whole process in which the train started, accelerated, ran smoothly and steadily and slowed down to pull in. He also specially walked into the pilothouse and held friendly exchanges with the driver. The Brazilian driver excitedly told the Chinese Premier that the Chinese subway train he drove features a large passenger capacity, mature technology as well as smooth and steady running, gaining wide popularity from the citizens of Rio de Janeiro.

In his conversation with Governor Luiz Fernando Pezao of Rio de Janeiro State, Li Keqiang expressed that the successful practice of cooperation in subway between China and Brazil shows that China has mature technology and experience as well as strong equipment manufacturing capacity in the field of rail transportation. The China-made products are highly cost-effective and adaptable to the needs of different markets. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Brazilian side to further strengthen cooperation in infrastructure construction and equipment manufacturing so as to open up more space for China-Brazil mutually beneficial cooperation.

Rio de Janeiro has ordered 604 subway and commuter trains from China. Recently, the Chinese side will deliver 90 subway trains to be used for special subway line for the Olympic Games.
