Li Keqiang and President Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia Meet the Press Together

On the afternoon of May 21 local time, Premier Li Keqiang, together with President Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia, met the press in Bogota after holding talks.

Li Keqiang noted that he and President Juan Manuel Santos had a frank and fruitful talk. China supports the peace process in Colombia and is ready to take an active part in the reconstruction of Columbia. China has rich experience and advantageous production capacity in infrastructure construction and equipment manufacturing and stands ready to set up plants in Colombia to produce iron and steel, construction materials and engineering equipment according to the needs of the Colombian side, thus help the country reduce cost and expand employment. Both sides will also open cooperation to the third-party on the basis of bilateral cooperation in production capacity and combine the cost-performance advantage of Chinese equipments with the advanced technologies of the US and developed European nations, so as to help Columbia advance industrialization and infrastructure construction with low cost and high development base, achieve a win-win result between China and Columbia, facilitate cooperation between developing countries and developed nations for win-win results, address the downward pressure of global economy with development of entity economy and promote the global economic recovery.

Juan Manuel Santos said that Columbia regards China as important strategic and cooperative partner, welcomes China to participate in the infrastructure construction in the country, and believes that relevant cooperation will surely be conductive to promoting the post-war reconstruction and economic and social development of Columbia. Premier Li Keqiang chose Columbia as one of his stops during this first visit to Latin America and fruitful results have been yielded during the visit, which reflects the sincere friendship between Columbia and China. It is believed that this visit will surely promote the Columbia-China relations to a new high.
