Li Keqiang and President Ollanta Humala Tasso of Peru Together Meet the Press

On the afternoon of May 22 local time, Premier Li Keqiang and President Ollanta Humala Tasso of Peru together met the press after holding talks in Lima.

Li Keqiang briefed on the outcome of their talks, and expressed that Peru is the third stop of his four-nation tour in Latin America. He and the leaders of Brazil, Colombia and Peru agreed to create new highlights in practical cooperation covering such fields as trade, investment, production capacity, equipment manufacturing and infrastructure construction. In particular, China, Brazil and Peru decided to jointly carry out feasibility study on the "Two-Ocean Railway" project and agreed to accelerate the work of the trilateral joint working group, so as to strive for early and substantial progress in the project, and drive economic development along the line as well as speed up industrialization and urbanization of the South American continent while protecting environment and biodiversity.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China has accumulated rich experience in railway construction, and with good security performance, high cost-effectiveness and other advantages, its equipments have stood the test of the competition in the international market. China will actively participate in the "Two-Ocean Railway" project and track transportation projects in relevant countries, and enhance technological transfer while conducting equipment cooperation, thus boost connectivity in South America, promote economic development in the region and better realize mutual benefit and win-win results.

Ollanta Humala Tasso expressed that Peru and China have signed the free trade agreement and established comprehensive strategic partnership, which fully demonstrates the smooth development and broad prospect of bilateral relations. Premier Li Keqiang's official visit to Peru is a grand event in the development history of bilateral relations. Peru stands ready to continue expanding cooperation with China, is grateful to China for its series of initiatives for Peru's industrialization, and welcomes China to increase investment in mining and agriculture in the country. Both sides signed the memorandum of understanding on the feasibility study of the "Two-Ocean Railway" project across the South American continent. This has consolidated and elevated bilateral friendly cooperative relations, and will help Peru achieve a better development and push forward common development and prosperity in Peru, Brazil, China as well as the region.
