Li Keqiang Requests Promotion of Transformation and Upgrading of China-Peru Practical Cooperation While Chairing Symposium of Chinese Enterprises in Peru

2015-05-24 10:01

On the morning of May 23 local time, Premier Li Keqiang chaired in Lima a symposium of Chinese enterprises in Peru, listened to the introduction of production and management by the representatives of state-owned and private enterprises having invested in Peru, and extended greetings to front-line staff through remote video connections and interacted and exchanged ideas with them.

Li Keqiang enquired specific details about relevant enterprises’ production and management, development plan, staff constitution, practical problems to be solved urgently, local industrial demand, market environment and others, and conveyed sincere greetings from the people at home to Chinese enterprises in Peru as well as Chinese staff working there.

Li Keqiang said that you, far away from your motherland and working hard at the forefront of China-Peru cooperation, have made positive contributions to the development of China-Peru relations as well as the construction of national modernization. Many of you are working in the high-altitude mining areas and have made amazing achievements in tough working and living conditions. I hereby extend lofty respect and sincere gratitude to all of you.

Li Keqiang proposed three wishes to Chinese enterprises in Peru:

First, push forward the transformation and upgrading of China-Peru cooperation via cooperation in production capacity. The enterprises should integrate the leading-edge and environment-friendly production capacity of China with economic development needs of Peru and strengthen cooperation in production capacity and equipment manufacturing, so as to lead Chinese equipment into the international market and, while advancing Peru’s economic development, promote domestic export and industrial upgrading, maintain economic growth at the medium-high speed and push economy toward the medium-high level.

Second, earnestly fulfill corporate social responsibilities. The enterprises should give full consideration to the interests of the host country and investment destinations, and adhere to green development, innovative development and people-benefiting development. The enterprises should create more job opportunities and live in harmony with the local society and staff, making China-Peru friendship more deeply rooted in the hearts of the peoples and opening up larger space for China-Peru cooperation.

Third, strengthen coordination and cooperation and stick together to go overseas. The Chinese enterprises in such fields as mining industry and equipment manufacturing and financial institutions in Peru should provide mutual support and realize sound interaction to seek common development. The Chinese government will continue to support enterprises in “going out”, and strengthen communication and coordination with Peru to create a better business environment for Chinese enterprises.

Li Keqiang also particularly reminded the Chinese staff working in plateau areas to take care of themselves, and asked the enterprises to well arrange and look after the life of the staff.

Over 50 representatives of Chinese enterprises attending the symposium and the Chinese staff via remote video connections all expressed their appreciation for the greetings from the motherland as well as the care and guidance of Premier Li Keqiang, and promised that they would spare no efforts to work for China-Peru cooperation in production capacity, fulfill corporate social responsibilities, and support the domestic economic development with greater achievements, so as to push China-Peru friendship and cooperation for continuous deepening and development.
