Li Keqiang Meets with Speaker of National Assembly Chung Ui-hwa of ROK

On the morning of November 1 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met with Speaker of the National Assembly Chung Ui-hwa of the Republic of Korea (ROK) in the National Assembly Building in Seoul.

Li Keqiang noted that China and the ROK are the closest neighbors across the sea, with bilateral relations developing vigorously. My current visit to the ROK is like calling on a neighbor and a friend, with the purpose to promote China and the ROK to enhance friendship, strengthen mutual trust, expand exchanges and innovate cooperation so as to better develop China-ROK strategic cooperative partnership.

Li Keqiang pointed out that cooperation between legislative bodies is an important part of bilateral relations. The agreements and consensus reached by the two governments need the support of bilateral legislative bodies. It is hoped that the two sides will strengthen exchanges and cooperation in governance and administration of state affairs, economic development, improvement of people's livelihood and other aspects, thus constantly injecting new vitality into the all-round development of China-ROK relations. It is also hoped that the National Assembly of the ROK will continue to play an irreplaceable and significant role in promoting bilateral cooperation.

Chung Ui-hwa expressed that he would like to extend congratulations on the successful leaders' meeting held between President Park Geun-hye and Premier Li Keqiang yesterday and the abundant achievements from it. It is hoped that relevant departments of the two countries will maintain institutional dialogues, carry out consensus and deepen cooperation. The docking of development strategies of the two countries will contribute to the stability and prosperity of Northeast Asia. The ROK and China enjoy time-honored and profound friendship, and the ROK is willing to work with China to pass down the traditional friendship and be good neighbors, good friends and good partners forever. The National Assembly of the ROK is willing to play an active role in pushing forward the development of ROK-China relations, and will endeavor to complete domestic legislative procedures for the ROK-China Free Trade Agreement within this year.
