Li Keqiang, President Park Geun-Hye of ROK and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan Jointly Meet the Press

On the afternoon of November 1 local time, Premier Li Keqiang, after the sixth Trilateral Leaders' Meeting of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK), jointly met the press with President Park Geun-hye of the ROK and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan.

Li Keqiang expressed that leaders of the three countries exchanged in-depth views on China-Japan-ROK cooperation and international and regional issues of common concern, reiterated the great importance attached to the trilateral cooperation and agreed to deal well with the historical and other sensitive issues, face the history squarely and orient to the future. On this basis, the three countries will together dedicate to regional economic integration, and join hands to achieve the goal of building an East Asian Economic Community (EAEC) by 2020, so as to make greater contributions to the revitalization of the whole Asia or even the world peace and development.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China, Japan and the ROK are three major economies in East Asia as well as the "locomotive" of regional economic development, exerting significant influence on global economic growth. The Chinese side attaches importance to the China-Japan-ROK cooperation, and always impels it with the spirit of good neighborliness and friendliness and win-win cooperation. It is hoped that the three countries will meet each other halfway, get hold of the general orientation of "synchronous running of the two wheels" of political security and economic development, and shape an environment for security and development through dialogues and cooperation.

Li Keqiang emphasized that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, and the three countries should announce to the world that they will unswervingly walk along the path of peaceful development, promote the healthy and steady development of trilateral cooperation, and maintain the long-term peace and security in Northeast Asia.

Park Geun-hye expressed that leaders of the ROK, China and Japan have exchanged views on the development orientation and areas of trilateral cooperation as well as international and regional issues, and agreed to, by sticking to the spirit of facing the history squarely and orienting to the future, expand economic cooperation, deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, strengthen regional multilateral cooperation and jointly tackle global challenges. The ROK side hopes to make contributions to the peace, stability and development in the Northeast Asia by strengthening trilateral cooperation.

Shinzo Abe expressed that the three countries are all important in the region, and this meeting among leaders of the three countries is a great event with epoch-making significance. The three countries have close economic relations and extensive areas of cooperation, and should accelerate negotiations on the Free Trade Area (FTA), further promote trilateral cooperation and regional cooperation in East Asia, and jointly maintain the peace and tranquility in the region and the world at large.
