Li Keqiang Arrives in Switzerland for the Attendance of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2015

In the afternoon of January 20 local time, at the invitation of Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Klaus Schwab and the Swiss Confederation government, Premier Li Keqiang arrived in Zurich of Switzerland by special plane for his attendance of the 2015 Annual Meeting of the WEF in Davos and his working visit to Switzerland.

Li Keqiang noted that the WEF, which is dedicated to promoting the international community to intensify dialogue and communication and pool consensus and discussing how to address global challenges, has been playing an important role in pushing forward the construction of the global governance system. I am looking forward to having an in-depth exchange of views with participants from various circles on world economy, international and regional situations, China's reform, opening up and economic development, solutions to the hotspot issues concerned by all parties, and other topics during my attendance of the Annual Meeting of the WEF, so as to make contributions to maintaining world peace and stability and promoting the world economy for a strong, sustainable and balanced growth.

Li Keqiang expressed that China and Switzerland have traversed an extraordinary journey of 65 years. I look forward to having in-depth exchanges of views with the Swiss leaders on bilateral relations and topics of common interest, so as to consolidate traditional friendship, expand and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, constantly expand the results gained from the bilateral free trade agreement (FTA), forge the financial sector into a new highlight in bilateral cooperation and make the development of China-Switzerland relations better benefit the two peoples.

Senior officials from the Swiss Confederation government, H.E. Mme. Xu Jinghu, Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland, Ambassador Wu Hailong, Head of the Mission of China to the European Union in Genève, Ambassador Yu Jianhua, Representative of Permanent Mission of China to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and others greeted him at the airport.

During his attendance at the Annual Meeting of the WEF, Li Keqiang will attend the plenary session of the WEF and deliver a special speech, have dialogues and exchanges with representatives from the International Business Council of the WEF, meet with Executive Chairman of the WEF Klaus Schwab and hold bilateral meetings with leaders of some countries attending the WEF.

During his working visit to Switzerland, Li Keqiang will hold talks with President Simonetta Sommaruga of the Swiss Confederation and both sides will announce and sign a series of cooperation achievements and documents covering finance, scientific research, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, food, pharmaceuticals and other fields.
