Li Keqiang Holds Talks with Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka of the Czech Republic

On the afternoon of November 27, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang held talks at the Great Hall of the People with Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka of the Czech Republic, who was in China for the 4th Summit of China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) and an official visit.

Li Keqiang expressed that the current China-Czech relations are presenting a sound development momentum. China will, together with the Czech Republic, consolidate political mutual trust and carry out all-round cooperation in the principle of mutual respect and equal treatment, so as to play the radiating and driving role in the region and realize mutual benefits and win-win results.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China will, together with the Czech Republic, dock development strategies to advance mutually beneficial cooperation; give play to each other's complementary advantages in industries, carry out cooperation in such areas as iron and steel, automobile and machine tool, elevate industrial level of both countries and conduct cooperation in the third-party markets; utilize internet, big data and other means to organically combine industrial cooperation with technological innovation and strengthen coordination through the mechanism of China-Czech Scientific and Technological Cooperation Committee. With safe, cost-effective and internationally competitive nuclear power technologies and equipments, China is willing to take an active part in construction of nuclear power stations in the Czech Republic. China will discuss with the Czech side on establishing a RMB settlement mechanism in Prague and hopes both sides discuss to set up a 16+1 financial company at this Summit so as to innovate and expand investment and financing cooperation means and offer strong support for practical cooperation. China will enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges with the Czech Republic. China agrees that the Czech side could apply to establish visa centers in approved Chinese cities to facilitate personnel exchanges, and will actively participate in the International Tourism Expo to be held in Prague next year and boost bilateral cooperation in such sectors as medicine and hygiene, education, local affairs and sports. China also hopes the Czech Republic continuously support the development of China-EU relations and the 16+1 cooperation so as to constantly add new impetus to upgrading relevant cooperation.

Bohuslav Sobotka warmly congratulated China on successfully holding the 4th Summit of China and the CEEC. He expressed that the 16+1 cooperation serves as an important platform in developing bilateral relations. The Czech Republic will continuously and actively participate in and organize relevant meetings. The Czech Republic hopes to further elevate bilateral relations, stands ready to intensify cooperation with China in industries and high-tech research and development and proposes to establish a joint fund to support this. The Czech Republic welcomes China to participate in its nuclear power construction and will discuss with China on the feasibility to carry out nuclear power cooperation in the third-party markets. The Czech Republic will give play to its geographical advantages to turn itself into a financial center in the region for CEEC-China cooperation and a transportation and logistics hub, and work with China to boost people-to-people and cultural exchanges, expand cooperation in such fields as education, sports, tourism, medicine and hygiene and further facilitate personnel exchanges.

Prior to the talks, Li Keqiang held a welcome ceremony for Bohuslav Sobotka at the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People. Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Chen Yuan was present.

Following the talks, the Chinese Premier and the Czech Prime Minister witnessed together the signing of multiple bilateral cooperation documents covering industry, finance, culture, sports, medicine, tourism and other fields.
